Terms

The terms

Last updated: 3 November 2026

These terms are between you and Shedix, Chandigarh, India ("shedix", "we", "us"). They cover shedix.dev, its API and command-line tool, and the machines you run with them. By creating an account or using shedix you agree to them, to the Acceptable Use Policy and to the Privacy Policy.

1. What shedix is

shedix gives you cloud Linux machines ("machines"), each a virtual machine of its own, run on Google Cloud. You can reach them over SSH, in a browser terminal and editor, from coding agents through our API, and from your phone. Each machine is yours: you control what runs on it.

shedix is in a private beta. Features, sizes and limits may change, and we may not offer the service forever. We'll tell you by email before a change that takes something away from you, when we reasonably can.

2. Your account

  • You sign in with Clerk, through Google or a one-time code to your email. Keep access to that email safe; whoever can sign in to it can use your account.
  • During the beta, only invited email addresses may use shedix.
  • One person per account, and you must be at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live).
  • Tokens you create can do what you can do with machines. You're responsible for what's done with your account and your tokens; revoke a token you no longer trust on your account page.

3. Credit and prices

  • shedix is prepaid. You add credit ("top up") in any amount from $5 to $500 at a time, in US dollars. New accounts get $1 of free credit, once.
  • A machine is charged by the second at its hourly price while it runs, at least one minute each time it starts. While it's asleep (stopped) it's charged only for its disk. A deleted machine costs nothing. Prices are listed on the pricing page and shown before you create a machine; a machine keeps the prices it was made with.
  • We may change prices for new machines with at least 30 days' notice by email.
  • Prices don't include sales tax, VAT or similar taxes, which are added at checkout where they apply.
  • Payments are processed by Dodo Payments, which acts as the merchant of record: it takes the payment, collects tax and issues the receipt. Its terms apply to the payment itself. We never see your card details.
  • Credit isn't money: it can't be transferred, withdrawn or exchanged for cash, except as refunds described in the Refund Policy. Unused credit doesn't expire while your account is open.

4. Limits

To keep the service fair and safe we set limits, shown on your account page and in the API: by default 3 machines running and 10 in all, one S machine at a time until your first top-up, and a monthly spending cap ($100 unless you change it). We may change the limits for an account.

5. When credit runs low or out

  • If you've topped up before, we email when about an hour, and again half an hour, of credit is left at what's running.
  • At zero, running machines are put to sleep. Their files are kept, and we email you.
  • Sleeping disks can take your balance a little below zero: to −$0.50, or −$0.15 if you've never topped up. When it reaches that, your machines are deleted with everything on them; if you've topped up before, we email a day before. A negative balance comes off your next top-up.
  • When a month's use reaches your monthly cap, running machines are put to sleep until the next month (UTC) or until you raise the cap.

6. Machines sleep, and data on them

  • A machine that goes an hour without use goes to sleep (it stops); running programs end, files stay. You can keep a machine awake.
  • You're responsible for your data. A machine's disk is a single cloud disk with no backup we keep for you. Deleting a machine, or a machine being deleted under section 5 or section 8, deletes its disk permanently. Keep copies of anything important elsewhere (for example, push your code).
  • A public preview link you create can be opened by anyone who has it, until you stop it or the machine stops.

7. Your content and your accounts with others

  • What you put on your machines stays yours. We don't read your files or the sign-ins on your machines; we access a machine only to run the service (for example, to report whether it's in use) or when the law requires it.
  • When you sign in to other services on a machine (Claude Code, Codex, GitHub and others), that's between you and them, under their terms. shedix doesn't resell those services.

8. Suspension and ending

  • You can delete your machines at any time, and ask us to close your account (see the Privacy Policy).
  • We may suspend an account, which puts its running machines to sleep and stops new ones, if it breaks these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, if a payment is disputed, or to protect the service or others. We'll tell you why unless the law or safety stops us. A suspension for a dispute ends when the dispute does, if it's resolved in your favour.
  • We may delete machines and close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks the Acceptable Use Policy. Unused paid credit on a closed account is refunded as in the Refund Policy, unless the account was closed for fraud or abuse.

9. Availability

shedix is provided as it is, during a beta. We work to keep it running but don't promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that a machine or its data won't be lost. Machines depend on Google Cloud, browser access on Cloudflare, and sign-in on Clerk.

10. Liability

To the extent the law allows: we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost data; and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 3 months before it. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.

11. Changes to these terms

We'll email you at least 14 days before a change that affects you materially takes effect. Using shedix after that means you accept the change; if you don't, you can close your account and get unused paid credit back.

12. Law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes go to the courts of Chandigarh. Questions: support@shedix.dev.
